Obituary

EAST HERKIMER - Eva R. Brown, 88, of Main Road, passed away on Friday afternoon, December 8, 2000. She was born on March 10, 1912, in East Herkimer, daughter of the late Charles and Emma Christman Richard. A lifelong East Herkimer Resident, she was educated in Herkimer Schools. On May 21, 1930, she married Maynard H. Brown in Mohawk, a loving union of sixty-two years until his passing on January 19, 1993. For ten years she and her husband owned and operated Browns Tavern in East Herkimer. She also owned and operated her own Beauty shop in East Herkimer before retiring in the 1970's. She was a member of the Herkimer Reformed Church, Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 Order of the Eastern Star, and the U.A.R.D.A. Temple #24 Daughters of the Nile. Surviving her are one son, Maynard Jr., and his wife Johanne Brown of East Herkimer; a sister Francis and her husband Gerney Butler of East Herkimer; a son-in-law Clarence Rivenburg of East Herkimer; four grandchildren, Sharon Brown-Burns and her husband Neal, Ronald Brown, Maynard "Rick" III and his wife Kelly Brown, Terrance "Terry" Rivenburg; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Ericka and Maynard "Ricky" Brown IV, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles J. Brown; a daughter Natalie Rivenburg one brother Ross Richard and a sister Irene Jacobson. Funeral service will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend Donald Battjes, pastor of the Herkimer Reformed Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the Funeral Home on Sunday 1-3 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Sue Campagna Herkimer County Hospice, the Herkimer Reformed Church, or a charity of choice. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
