HERKIMER-Evelyn Pearl Reile age 95, passed away on Wednesday morning August 2, 2017, in Faxton-St. Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
?She was born on September 8, 1921, in Ilion, daughter of the late James and Helena Schwartz Lonis. A lifelong area resident she was raised in Ilion and was a graduate of Ilion High School. Evelyn at one time worked as a bookkeeper for the Alex Reardons Best Garage and Mickeys Diner in Ilion. On October 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Reile in Elkton, MD. Mr. Reile died on May 9, 1997. Mrs. Reile was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls where at one time served as a church trustee. She was a member of the Col. Marinus Willett-Mohawk Valley Chapter National DAR, Frankfort, and had served as Vice Regent in 2004.Evelyn will always be remembered as a loving and generous woman with a strong sense of family and community. She served on the Herkimer Village Board from 1999 until 2003.
?Surviving her are four sons, Jerome White of Utica, Dr. Steven White and his wife Irene of MD, James Reale and his wife Roberta of FL, Mitchell Reale and his wife Karen of Schuyler, one daughter, Valerie Duncan and her husband Gordon of Herkimer, six step-sons, Donald Reile and his wife Mary of Ilion, Ronald Reile and his wife Beverly of Ilion, Paul Reile and his wife Patti of Utica, Richard Reile and his wife Jacquie of FL, Thomas Huyck and his wife Paula of Syracuse, Robert Huyck and his wife Tammy of Westmoreland, ten cherished grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Donald her sister, Helen Merena, and special friend Thomas Stefka preceded her in death.
?Calling hours for Mrs. Reile will be on Wednesday from 9:00 until 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow immediately after in the funeral home at 11:00 am with the Reverend Ann Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
