HERKIMER - Evelyn Leona Rogers, age 89, of 104 N. Washington St., formerly of Midtown Apts., 315 N. Prospect St., entered into eternal rest, to join her family, on Wednesday, September 4, 2002, in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born on February 22, 1913, in Columbus, NY, the first born of Elmer L. and Gertrude B. Jowels Crandall. At an early age, she moved with her family to Ilion. She received her education in the Ilion School and through extension courses following her high school graduation. She was a member of the Ilion Baptist Church in which she married Arnold W. Rogers of St. Johnsville on December 24, 1952. They had lived on the Creek Rd. in Mohawk and in 1972 moved to the Midtown Apts. in Herkimer. Mr. Rogers passed away on August 13, 1982. Mrs. Rogers was employed by UNIVAC for 40 years, retiring in 1972. She belonged to its 25 Year Club, where she served as secretary. She was also a member of the Amaranth, the Order of Rebekahs Lodge #126 as well as the AARP. Surviving her are a sister-in-law, Nellie Crandall, of Herkimer; three nephews, Francis and Garre Crandall, and their wives, and Ronald Cool; great-nieces; great-nephews; and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Arnold, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Shenk, in 1982, and her brother, Francis Crandall, also in 1982. Funeral service in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer, on Monday at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. J. Wesley Shipp, Pastor of the Ilion Baptist Church, will officiate. Mrs. Rogers will be laid to rest with her husband in the Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. Her family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends two hours prior to the funeral service (12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.). Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association or the Central New York Association for the Blind. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
