ILION-Flora M. Roberts age 85 formerly of Mohawk passed away peacefully on Friday morning January 13, 2017 in Mohawk Valley Health Care Center. She was born on July 15, 1931 in Ilion, daughter of the late Arthur and Laura Voorhees McGraw. A lifelong area resident she was a graduate of Mohawk High School. At one time she was employed by the Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls, Nichols Department Store in Herkimer and the Duofold Company as a sewing machine operator. She had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. Flora was a member of the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post # 25 Ladies Auxiliary in Mohawk. To those who knew her she will always be remembered as a caring, loving and good natured lady. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by two sons, Richard Roberts and his wife Bernadette of New Hampshire, John Roberts and his fiance Yuanita Charles of Herkimer, three daughters, Heidi Benson and her husband James of Ilion, Cindy McCaw and her husband Randy of Ilion, Joy Roberts of Herkimer, two brothers and their wives, Harry and Darlene Ferguson of Mohawk, Danny and Sue Ferguson of Ilion, two sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Frank Kraszewski, of Little Falls, Barbara and Russ Garrison of Palatine Bridge, a sister-in-law, Ruth McGraw of Mohawk, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald McGraw, Richard McGraw, Archie McGraw and Raymond McGraw, two sisters Pauline McGraw and Laura Piper. A graveside funeral service will take place at a time to be announced later this spring in Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. Herkimer.
