HERKIMER - Florence Laska Macrina, 97, formerly of 315 N. Prospect St., passed away Monday morning, Aug. 26, 2002, in Heritage Health Center, Utica, where she has resided since 1997. She was born Dec. 25, 1904, in Krakow, Poland, daughter of the late Karol and Katherine Skora Laska. Florence came to America as a young girl and was educated in Clinton schools. For many years she worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Herkimer Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Surviving are one son, Richard F. and his wife Mary Macrina of Herkimer; a daughter, Dolores and her husband Samuel Stagliano of Clinton; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Melissa Macrina, Daryk and Sarah Macrina with their children, Thomas, Maria and Nicholas, Marc Stagliano, Michael Stagliano with his son Nicholas, Nicholas Stagliano with his children, Gina and Nicholas; several nieces and nephews; other special relatives, Carol Vangura, Mary Kunz, Vin Vangura, Steve Vangura, Pat Haight, Bertye Martino and Mickey Moore. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and John Laska; and three sisters, Caroline Vangura, Annie Moore and Mary Laska. Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St. in Herkimer will be on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. The Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor, will officiate. Interment in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Clinton will take place at a later time convenient to the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Health Care Center or the charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
