MOHAWK-Florence Markwardt age 77 of Oregon Road passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning March 1, 2012 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on December 28, 1934 in the town of Stratford, daughter of the late Lloyd and Helen Boardman Bullock. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in VanHornesville. On April 9, 2005 she was united in marriage with Fred Markwardt in Little Falls. Florence had a true belief in God and was raised in the Methodist faith. She had a love for the outdoors and traveling. She found great joy in visiting her family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To those who knew her, she will always be remembered as loving, caring and hopeful lady with an unforgettable smile. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her devoted husband Fred, one son, James McCaw of Herkimer, six daughters, Brenda L. Wells and her husband Wade of Mohawk, Jacqueline Eskdale and her husband James of Amsterdam, Linda McCaw of Ilion, Cynthia Wells of Oneonta, Florence Doolen and her husband David of Little Falls, Christine Congdon and her husband William of Mohawk, three brothers; Raymond Bullock of Stratford, Lawrence Bullock and his wife Rosemary of Stratford, Stacey Bullock of Dolgeville, two sisters, Joan Knapp of Saint Johnsville, Gloria Brys and her husband Edward of Oppenheim, seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer on Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will follow immediately at 3:00 pm. The Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will be later this spring in Curtis Cemetery, Salisbury. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
