HERKIMER-Florence E. Miller age 77 of Steuben Hill Roadpassed away peacefully on Monday evening July 21, 2008 in St. Elizabeths Medical Center,Utica. She had the comfort of her loving family ather side.
She was born on February 22, 1931 in Valley Stream, LI, daughter of the late Frederick and Florence Volmer Schoen. Florence was raised on Long Island where she graduated from Valley Stream High School. She furthered her education at Adelphi University where she was a member of Delta Zeta Society.
On February 12, 1958 she was united in marriage with Jay A. Miller in Holy TrinityChurch, Valley Stream. They shared a devoted union of forty-eight years until his passing on May 28, 2006. They moved from Valley Stream in 1958 coming to Mohawk for one year, then moving into their new home on Steuben Hill Road where they had resided since.
Mrs. Miller had a strong belief in God and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. She was an active member of Saint Marys Guild.
First and foremost to Florencewere her family and home. She spent many happy hours in her garden and also enjoyed baking for her family and church. Florence will always be remembered as a caring and helpful person. A friend to many she will never be forgotten.
Surviving are one son David (Devon) Miller and his wife Krystaleve Snow of West Chester, PA, a brother, Paul and his wife Barbara Schoen of Ridge, LI, one sister, Carol Martin of Lawrence, GA, a grandson Brandon Miller of West Chester, PA, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband Jay she was preceded in death by one son Andrew Scott Miller in 1975.
Funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be on Saturday at 10:00 am in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. The Reverend William Wheeler will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present inFenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer; to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
