Obituary

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL-Florence A. Neely age 91 of Port Charlotte formerly of Ilion passed away on Wednesday June 20, 2007 in Harbour Health Center, Port Charlotte. She was born on January 10, 1916 in Poultney, VT daughter of the late Harvey and Charlotte Thomas Adams. At a young age she with her family moved to Herkimer where she was raised and graduated from Herkimer High School. On October 29, 1937 she married Harry Loefler. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1945. She later was united in marriage with Lyle Neely on September 29, 1951 in the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion. For several years Flo and Lyle successfully owned and operated Js of Ilion, a ladies and childrens shop. They retired to Port Charlotte in 1978. During their retirement they looked forward to spending their summers coming back to Ilion until ill health prevented them from doing so. Mrs. Neely had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ilion where she taught Sunday school for many years. In Port Charlotte she was a member of the Pilgrim Church of Christ. She was also a fifty year member of Evening Star Valley Chapter # 82 Order of the Eastern Star as well as a member of the Ilion Rebekahs. To her family the years hold precious the memories of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She filled their lives with happiness and sweet feelings that they will carry in their hearts forever. She will be truly missed. Surviving are her husband of fifty-five years Lyle of Harbour Terrace, one daughter Carol and her husband Edwin Zutter of Punta Gorda, FL, four grandchildren, Steve and his wife Carolyn Zutter of Port Charlotte, FL, Sandy and her husband Jim Melo of Punta Gorda, FL, Rob and his wife Lynne Zutter of Ilion, Beth Anne Hartt of Port Charlotte; four great grandchildren, Kayla, Steven, Andrea, Jaimie; a nephew, Gary and his wife Dianne Morrisette of Oswego and one niece, Nancy and her husband Al Young of Ilion. Besides her parents and first husband Harry Loefler she was predeceased by a sister Evelyn and brother-in-law Albert Morrisette. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 pm in the Ilion Masonic Temple with the Reverend Carlton VanOrnum officiating. A luncheon will follow. At Mrs. Neelys request her interment in Armory Hill Cemetery was private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
