Obituary

MOHAWK - Mrs. Florence (Andersen) Reardon, 92, formerly of Richfield St., Mohawk passed away peacefully at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse on March 2, 2014. Florence was bornon April 1, 1921 in Coulter, Iowa. One of 10 children, she was the daughter of Catherine and Ejler Andersen. She was educated in the local schools and graduated from Hampton Business Institute. During World War II she worked for the U.S. Navy in the Pentagon. In 1945, she moved to the Mohawk valley and on October 13, 1946 she married Daniel J. Reardon in Brooklyn. They resided in Mohawk for many years, Daniel died on February 22, 2004. Florence had a strong belief in God and was a long time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Always a caring person, in her later years she volunteered at Hospice, meals on wheels and the Weller Library. The Reardon Reading Room at the Weller Library was dedicated to her and her husband. Faithfulness, and devotion defined Florence as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor. She will be missed by all. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Kevin and Linda Reardon of Merrimac, MA, Kent and Rebecca Reardon of Central Square, two daughters, Cathy Syhre of Durham, N.C. and the Reverend Dana Reardon of Warwick, RI, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 2 P.M. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Ann Zimmerman will officiate. There are no calling hours. Mrs. Reardon will be laid to rest in Mohawk Cemetery later this spring. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Florence's memory may do so to the flood recovery at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer.
