MOHAWK- Florence Spencer of Mohawk passed away at the Masonic Care Community, Uticaon Monday, March 1, 2010.
Florence was born in Syracuse on October 25, 1915, daughter of the late Emert and Margaret Kerwin Bucklin. She graduated from Little Falls High School. She married Dorland (Stubby) Spencer in 1946.
She worked at Savage Arms Library Bureau and Herkimer County Community College. She was the first person to retire from the college. She was a former member of the AARP and the DAR, General Nicholas Herkimer Chapter.
Survivors include her daughter Carol (Jeremy) Blum and a son David (Irene) Spencer all of Mohawk, four grandchildren, David (Kristina) Spencer, Jennifer (fianc Joseph Nicastro) Spencer, Courtney (Jeffrey) Blum Brown, and Tiffany (Joseph) Blum Accumanno, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her beloved sister in law, Evelyn Bucklin and five cherished friends, Linda W., John M., Terry S., Betty K., and Helen M. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Murphy and her brother James Bucklin.
Florencewill always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and close friends along with her profound strong will and fierce sense of independence.

There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mohawk Cemetery. Her family has requested no flowers and would appreciate contributions to the Masonic Care Community Life Department for Activities which she thoroughly enjoyed, or the Alzheimer Association.
