RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Floyd R. Plever, age 70, a lifelong resident of the Town of Warrendied unexpectedly March 17, 2010, at MaryImogene BassettHospital in Cooperstown, with his loving wife Barbara at his side. He was born in Herkimer, on November 11, 1939, the son of Fredrick and Corabell (Bronner) Plever and attended Van Hornesville Central School. When first out of school he worked at Pattersons Garage in Richfield Springs as well as on the family dairy farm in Jordanville, taking over the farm in 1966. He was at one time employed by Remington Arms, Herkimer Country Highway Department and the Town of Warren Highway Department eventually running for and elected to the position of Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Warren, a position he held from 1981 to the present time. He was a member of the Herkimer Countyand NYS Highway Superintendents Association.
He sold the family farm in 1980, purchasing another farm which he operated until 1999, always being a farmer at heart. He also owned and operated the B & F Excavating Business doing bulldozing, backhoe work and trucking.
On May 6, 1961 he was united in marriage to Barbara Smith at the Methodist Churchin Jordanville. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 48 years, his sisters Lillian (Thomas) Armstrong , of Springfield Center, Marion (James) Gardner, of Mohawk and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lois Ann (Donald) Aney. Floyd will be rememeberd for his sense of humor, as well as his love and concern for his family and friends. He was appreciative of the loyal friendships he had formed through the years in the Jordanville area.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, at 11:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, RichfieldSprings. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Friday (today) from5:00 until 8:00 pm.
