RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Frances Marie Guzik, age 91 ofMcKoons Road, passedaway peacefully on Monday evening, July 29, 2002 in Folts Homes Herkimer.
She was born on March 25, 1911 in the town of Columbia,daughter of the late Lucas and Ida Jakiewich Szeliga. A lifelong Columbiaresident, she was educated in the Columbia School. On April 29, 1929, shemarried Joseph Guzik in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs a loving anddevoted union of fifty-eight years until his passing on August 19, 1987. Forover forty years she worked along side of her husband on the Guzik Bee-line Farmin the town of Columbia.
Mrs. Guzik was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's ChurchRichfield Springs and the Rosary Society of the church. She will always beremembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmotherand will be missed by many, especially her family.
Surviving are one son, Walter and his wife Lorraine Guzik ofRichfield Springs, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law,Agnes Szeliga of Saquoit, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, shewas preceded in death by a son, Stanley in 1941, a daughter Helen Jouben in1983, a brother, Joseph Szeliga and a sister Agnes Bibik and a niece FrancesLouise Guzik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church Richfield Springs.. Interment will follow in St.Joseph's Cemetery. The family will be present in Chapel area of the Church ofChrist Uniting, 14 Church Street, Richfield Springs to receive relatives andfriends on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are with J.Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
