HERKIMER-Frances E. Horner age 87 of South Washington Street passed away on Friday morning March 17, 2006 in Saint Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on June 21, 1918 in Rome, daughter of the late Steven and Gertrude M. Kobler Disburger. Frances was raised in Verona and was a graduate of Verona High School. On March 11, 1944 she was united in marriage with Jesse Horner in Pennsylvania. A loving and devoted union of twenty-four years until his passing on October 8, 1968. For twenty years she was employed by UNIVAC in Ilion, retiring in 1977.
Mrs. Horner had a strong belief in God and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Her relaxation time was spent crocheting and doing needlework. With this talent she had the distinction of making over 1100 baby blankets for needy children all over New York State. Frances will always be remembered as a warm, caring and hopeful person. Nothing can ever detract from the joy of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her family.
Surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth Trunko and her husband Wesley of Durhamville, Geraldine Brown of Verona, Phyllis Hasenauer of Whitesboro, a brother-in-law, George Sutter of Verona, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews as well as great- great nieces and great-great nephews. Besides her parents and husband Jesse she was preceded in death by two brothers George Disburger in 1975, Paul Disburger in 1993, two sisters, Susan Backus in 1988 and Doris Sutter in 1995.
Funeral service will be on Monday at 11:30 am in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Pastor Ann Zimmerman will officiate. Interment will be in St Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Churchill later this spring. The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
