HERKIMER - Frances M. Tarbox age 88 of First Avenue entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening July 26, 2003 in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on October 17, 1914 in Fort Plain, daughter of the late Clarence and Fannie Brown Hotaling. Frances was raised and educated in Fort Plain. In April of 1947 she married Ross K. Tarbox in Pennsylvania. They had resided in Ithaca before coming to Herkimer in 1957.
Mrs. Tarbox had worked outside the home in various businesses in the area. For ten years she was a Senior Companion for the Herkimer Area Resource Center retiring in December of 2002.
She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls. A member of the Good News Group in Newport, she delighted in taking the many bus trips that the group made.
Frances loved being with people, she enjoyed parties and brought happiness and sweet feelings to all those who knew her in both her family life and at HARC. She will be truly missed by her many friends and family especially her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband of fifty-six years Ross are three sons; Ross K. Tarbox Jr. of Ephrata, Ronald D. and his wife Sandra Tarbox of East Herkimer, Rodney D. and his wife Donella Tarbox of Paines Hollow, two daughters; Vickie Tarbox of Herkimer and Dawn Tarbox of Fort Plain, one brother; Donald Hotaling of Farmville, NC, nine grandchildren; Ross Tarbox III, Nicholas Tarbox, Renee Tarbox, Nicole Schultz, Ashley Tarbox, Ryan Tarbox, Jennifer Dillon, Terri Dillon, and William Chip Dillon, two great grandchildren; Cameron and Addison Schultz, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents Frances was preceded in death by a brother Clarence Hotaling and a sister; Arlene Viccarelli.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls will officiate. Mrs. Tarbox will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday (today) from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer Area Resource Center or the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls Memorial Fund.
