Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - GUILDERLAND - The Rev. Francis E. Husselbeck, 72, of Mercy Care Lane, former pastor of Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, entered into eternal life Thursday morning, May 15, 2003, in Our Lady of Mercy Life Care in Guilderland. He was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Albany, a son of the late Francis E. and Margaret Grace LaBombard Husselbeck. In 1949, he graduated from Keveny Academy, Cohoes. He went on to Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Conn., where he received an A.A. in Philosophy in 1952, and graduated from St. Bernard's Seminary, Rochester with a bachelor's degree in Theology in 1954. His ordination as a Catholic priest took place May 31, 1958, upon completion of continued studies in Theology and Seminary from St. Bernard's. In the spring of 1979, he continued studies in Theology at the North American College, Rome, Italy. For 40 years, he served the Albany Diocese as a dedicated priest. His assignments as a priest were as assistant pastor of Our Lady of Victory, Troy and associate pastor of St. Columba Church, Schenectady. He served as chaplain of the Schenectady County Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, associate pastor of Holy Spirit Church of East Greenbush, serving as the administrator from March to June of 1968. He then served as associate pastor of Our Lady of Mercy, Colonie and from December 1968 to February 1979, he was pastor of St. Ann, Fort Ann Church. During his time he also served as chaplain at the Comstock Correctional Facility. From September 1979 until August 1985, he was pastor of St. Agnes/St. Patrick church, Cohoes. In August 1985, he came to Richfield Springs, where he served as pastor of Saint Joseph's Church until his retirement in Aug. 1998.He is survived by a brother, Joseph A. Husselbeck; two sisters, Ellen T. Feeney and her husband Gary and Sister M. Francesca Husselbeck, RSM; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Husselbeck; five nephews, Eric and his wife Michelle Husselbeck, Kurt and his wife Andrea Husselbeck, Kevin and his wife Shannon Judy Husselbeck, Shawn Gary Feeney and Shannon Patrick Feeney; one niece, Kellie Kathleen Nedoroscik and her husband Frank; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Ryan Husselbeck, Owen Husselbeck, Kasandra Husselbeck, Zachery Nedoroscik, Frank Nedoroscik and Shannen Nedoroscik.A reception of the body will be held Sunday, May 18, at 4 p.m. in Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs followed by public visitation from 4-7 p.m. At the conclusion of visitation a Parish Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Cohoes. Father Husselbeck will be laid to rest in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.Memorial donations may be made to Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs or Our Lady of Mercy Life Care, 2 Mercy Lane, Guilderland 12084.Funeral arrangements are by J.
