Obituary

Francis L. Lehr VAN HORNESVILLE-Francis L. Lehr72 of Chyle Road died on Monday morning August 14, 2000 in Bassett Healthcare,Cooperstown after a long illness. He was born on October 2, 1927 in Rutland, VTson of the late Robert Morris and Alice Seward Lehr. Francis was raised andeducated in Rutland. During World War II he enlisted in the US Navy and servedin the North Sea. He was honorably discharged in 1945. On January 21, 1949 hemarried Ava Tennant in Johnstown. A loving and devoted union of fifty-one yearsuntil her passing just nine days ago on August 5, 2000. He was a baker by trade,for over thirty years he worked for both Petries Bakery in Fort Plain andJoubens Bakery in Richfield Springs, retiring in 1989. An active bowler hebelonged to the Van Hornesville Bowling League. Frank was light on his feet andloved to Polka Dance. He was a member of the St Johnsville Polka League. Surviving him are two sons; Rory Lehrand his companion Heidi Hutcherson of Van Hornesville, Raymond and his wife DyanSnyder of Burlington Flats, four daughters; Georgia Lehr and her companion TimLuft of St Johnsville, Wanda Lehr of Broadalbin, Debra and her husband KennethSchaner of St Johnsville, Jamie and her husband John Baker of Van Hornesville,Three brothers and their wives; Howard and Marion Lehr of Gloversville, Hubertand Shirley Lehr of Johnstown, Charles and Joan Lehr of Mesquite, TX, a sisterBeverly and her husband William Nellis of Gloversville, seventeen grandchildren,six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wifeAva he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Morris Lehr and a sisterElizabeth Christman. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 10:00 AM in J.Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs with theReverend Kenneth Dingman officiating. Interment will follow in Van HornesvilleCemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relativesand friends Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to theSpringfield Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at thefuneral home.
