Francis E. McCoyRICHFIELD SPRINGS- Francis E. McCoy, 72, of Lakeview Avenue, died peacefully on Sunday morning,March 12, 2000, in his home after a long illness.
He was born on August 25, 1927 in Boston, MA, son of the late Terence andMary Byrne McCoy. A graduate of St. Johns Prep School in New York City, hewent on to further his education in Banking administration. An honorablydischarged US Army veteran of WW II, he served in Japan as an honor guard forGeneral Douglas McArthur. On May 23, 1953 he married Veronica Barry in St.James, Long Island, where they resided until moving to Richfield Springs in1983. For 37 years he worked for the Eastern National Bank in Long Island laterbecoming the Chemical Bank, retiring as Assistant vice-president in 1983. He andhis wife owned and operated the Stony Brook Motel in Richfield Springs from 1983until 1991. He was a member of St. Josephs Church, Richfield Springs; hadserved on the Board of Assessments in Long Island, the Otsego County PlanningBoard, and was a member of the Richfield Springs Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Veronica, four sons Richard McCoy and hisfianc Marilyn, of East Quogue, LI, Thomas McCoy, of Vestal, John McCoy and hiswife Mary, of Brick, NJ, James McCoy and his wife Robin, of Clifton, NJ; threedaughters, Patricia Allen and her husband Edward, of Richfield Springs, TheresaMcCoy, of Brick, NJ, Jane Murphy and her husband Matthew, of Oaksville, 15grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Mark Pfaeffle of East Stroudsburg, PA. Hisdaughter Kathleen Pfaeffle preceded him in death on December 14, 1997.
Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home on Wednesday 9:30 a.m. followedby a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Josephs Church, RichfieldSprings, with the Rev. Terance Healy, officiating. Interment in St. JosephsCemetery will take place later this spring. The family will be present toreceived relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
