SCHUYLER LAKE - Frank Duncan age 73 of East Lake Road entered into eternal rest on Wednesday evening February 18, 2004 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side.
He was born on September 12, 1930 in Laurens, son of the late Edward Sr. and Sarah VanBuren Duncan. A life long area resident he was raised and educated in Schuyler Lake.
Mr. Duncan had worked as a automobile mechanic and from 1973 until 1980 owned and operated a automobile repair shop. He also had worked on Dave Drakes Dairy Farm and for seven years was a courier for Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, retiring in 1992.
On May 9, 1981 he married Josephine L. Strobeck in Schuyler Lake. They lived in Richfield Springs until 1987 when they moved to Schuyler Lake. Frank was a friend to many and will always be remembered for his warm friendly smile and caring way.
Surviving are his beloved wife of twenty-two years Josephine, four sons and their wives, Steven and Carolyn Duncan of Westford, David and Darlene Duncan of Maryland, Frank and Teena Duncan, Joseph and Joyce Duncan all of Cooperstown, two daughters, Terry Kilts and Dawn Covey both of Milford, three step-sons, Claude Duncan of Schuyler Lake, Elwin Duncan of Ilion, David Werpechowski of Schuyler Lake, two step-daughters and their husbands, Kitty and William Miller of Cooperstown, Malinda and David Burdick of Schuyler Lake, two brothers, Ray Duncan of Richfield Springs, Elwin Duncan of Hartwick, two sisters, Elizabeth Sparks of Herkimer, Isabelle Garbera of Richfield Springs, a daughter-in-law Debbie Duncan of Ilion, fifty grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents a son, James Duncan, five brothers, Edward Jr., Herbert, Howard, Sylvan, and Fred Duncan, one sister Louise Kenyon predeceased him.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Alan Miller, Pastor of the Richfield Springs Bible Church will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Mr. Duncan will be laid to rest in Twi-Light Rest Cemetery, Monticello later this spring
