RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Fred A. Seamon, 76,of Hinds Road, died on Sunday, July 9, 2000 in his home. Born on January 4, 1924 in the Town ofExeter, he was a son of the late Louis and Martha Domion Seamon. A lifelongExeter resident, he was educated in both Exeter and Schuyler Lake Schools.During World War II he with his brother Harry Seamon answered the call of thecountry by enlisting in the US Army. He served in the Pacific Theatre and wasHonorably Discharged in 194 .On April 15, 1944 he married Shirley Crist inTexas. Mr. Seamon owned and operated his own dairy farm in Exeter as well asworking for Lancaster Development Corporation in Cobleskill, retiring in 1986.From 1960 to 1964 he was Highway Superintendent for the Town of Exeter. He wasinstrumental in the building of the current town garage. He was a member of theSchuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Hugick,Purcell, Shepardson American Legion Post # 616, Richfield Springs. Fred lovedthe outdoors and was an avid big game hunter. Surviving him besides his wife offifty-six years Shirley, are one son, Wayne and his wife Jean Seamon of Exeter;three daughters and their husbands, Sherry and George Blauvelt of Port Richey,FL, Dale and Kenneth Dyn of Exeter, Marsha and James Lewis of Helena, MT;, ninebrothers, Lee Seamon of Exeter, Devere Seamon of Richfield, Louis Seamon Jr. ofRichfield, Floyd Seamon of Black River, Howard Seamon of Exeter, James Seamon,Edward Seamon and Grant Seamon all of Richfield, Merton Seamon of Sloansville,Four sisters; Virginia Homa of West Winfield, Rose Zenner of Unadilla, GenevieveSpytko of Richfield, Elizabeth Collins of Warren, twelve grandchildren, twelvegreat grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in deathby a daughter Joyce Betty Seamon in 1947, two sisters; Mabel Bond, MargueritePalmer, two brothers; Willis and Harry Seamon. The family will be present to receiverelatives and friends on Tuesday (today) 7:00 to 9:00 PM in J. Seaton McGrathFuneral Home, 40 West James Street Richfield Springs. Funeral and committal areprivate. Memorial donations may be made to the Schuyler LakeFirst Responders or the Richfield Springs Volunteer Emergency Squad. Envelopeswill be available at the funeral home.
