ROCHESTER, NY- Freeman Burks, age 63, entered the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
He was born on August 5, 1957 in Jordanville to the late John Will and Lois J. (Boykins) Burks. He was raised in Jordanville and graduated from Owen D. Young High School, Class of 1977. He furthered his education at the University of Texas for Business. On January 1, 1981 he was united in marriage to Blandine P. Syczyk in Herkimer.
In 1978, Freeman relocated to Rochester, NY and accepted a position at Kodak. Shortly after, Freeman left Kodak and became an entrepreneur starting his own business, Burks Computer Services. With his entrepreneur spirit, Freeman transitioned into Real Estate investments. He started his own real estate company, Property Investor Partners Inc. This past year, Freeman returned to Jordanville and worked at Global Calling Center.
Freeman was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather. He loved to watch basketball (Cleveland Cavaliers) and football (Buffalo Bills). He always had a smile and when he entered the room his warm presence made everyone feel welcoming. He would strike a conversation with any and everyone and was a great listener. His goofy sense of humor and infectious laugh brightened every room. He was the man you called because he always had the solution to your problem.
Freeman is survived by his devoted wife Blandine, two daughters Bernadine and Francine, five grand-children Mahogany Williams, Emmanuel and Darricka Ankrah, Paris Bennett and Brooklynn Graham all of Rochester, one great grandson "LB" will be blessing us in March, five sisters and two brothers, Iona Jenkins of Summerset NJ, Maureen Cole, Earledean Burks, both of Bronx, Mary Hales of Georgia, Lisa and George Burrows of Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, Evon and Theresa Burks of Frederick, MD, Eral and Diane Burks of Cleveland, OH, extended family Mae Burks, Ann Burks, Grace Burks, Philmane Burks, Patricia Burks, Donna Burks and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he preceded in death by six brothers, one sister and one grandson, Oscar, Willie, John, Delmonte, Jerome, Zackerus Burks, Elaine Burks, and Bobby Freeman Graham.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends at Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, on Tuesday, January 5, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service and Interment will be reserved for the summer.
