WHITESBORO-Gail Catherine Harter age 77, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, April 20, 2018 in Faxton-Saint Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side. She was born on March 9, 1941 in Utica, daughter of the late Leo Edward and Mary Ann Foy Dolin. Gail was raised in Whitesboro and graduated from Whitesboro High School with the class of 1959. On October 15, 1960 she was united in marriage to Edward Thomas Harter. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-five years until his passing on October 15, 2005. Mrs. Harter worked at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She retired in 2003 after thirty years of dedicated service. In her retirement years Gail liked to travel, go shopping visit the casino and spend winters in Florida. To those who knew her she was a strong, loving and considerate lady. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Surviving her are two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Francis Grippe of Frankfort, Sally and Ben Juliano of Whitesboro, one daughter-in-law, Lori Harter of Witherbee, twin brother, Gary Dolin of Newport, two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Dolin of Lake Pleasant and Marlene Christie and her husband Dale of Schuyler, eight grandchildren, Francis and Anthony Grippe, Zachary, Nicholas and Alexis Harter, Samantha, Kimberly and Rebecca Juliano, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her loyal canine friend and companion Buddy. Besides her parents and husband Edward she was preceded in death by a son Eddie in December 2015, sister-in-law Patsy Dolin, a brother Thomas Dolin and a sister Eileen Burr. Calling hours for Mrs. Harter will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow immediately after in the funeral home Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Whitesboro Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
