LITTLE FALLS - Gary Michael Czernecki, 61, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023 with family and friends by his side. He was born of April 3, 1961, in Herkimer a son of the late Zenon (Zeke) and Anna (Lyga) Czernecki. As a lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in Herkimer. Gary was married to the former Lori Forbes who preceded him in death. For thirty –five years he worked for the Town of Herkimer Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from the town in 2017 and most recently worked for Peter Macri Paving . He was proud of his Polish heritage and had been a member of the Polish Club in Herkimer. Gary leaves behind, two sons and their companions, Zachary Lyga and Abbigail Perkett of Mohawk, Zenon Czernecki and Jessica Irons of Ilion, a grandson, Cohen and a grandson to be, Mother and Father-in-law Shirley and Tim Dutcher, a sister-in-law, Connie, niece Catrina Czernecki, and several other loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife Lori and parents, Zeke and Anna, he was preceded in death by his brother, John, brother-in-law, Jeff, a special friend, Tammy Warner and his best friend Peter Macri. Calling hours for Mr. Czernecki will be on Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home Memorial donation may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Service.
