Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Gary M. Putnam age 56 of West Main Street entered into eternal rest on Monday morning November 22, 2004 at his home. He was born on January 3, 1948 in Cooperstown, son of Emma Tooley Putnam and the late Albert J. Putnam. Gray was raised in Van Hornesville and was a graduate of Van Hornesville High School. A US Army veteran, he served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968. He had worked for Smith Ford Dealership in Cooperstown, Cherry Burroughs in Little Falls and for ten years with John Forbes Building Contractors, retiring in 1984. He had lived in Richfield Springs for the past year coming from Mohawk. Gary had a strong love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his friends and family especially his two grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by many. Surviving besides his mother Emma Putnam are two daughters and their husbands, April and Michael Weeks of Milford, PA, Marcia Putnam-Todd and husband Douglas of Norwood, MA, his loving companion Donna Ricci of Richfield Springs, two brothers, Joseph and Kevin Putnam both of Richfield Springs, two sisters, Susan Putnam of Richfield Springs, Amy and her husband Duane Young of the town of Columbia, one uncle, Erwin Putnam of Cherry Valley, two grandchildren Ryan and Evan Weeks both of Milford, PA, one niece, Rebecca Young and a nephew, Joshua Young. Funeral service will be on Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Carolee Smith will officiate. Mr. Putnam will be laid to rest with military honors in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs at a later time convenient to the family. Calling hours will be two hours prior to the funeral service (6:00 until 8:00 pm). Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
