RICHFIELD SPRINGS Genevieve "Jennie" Spytko, 69, left to be with our Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 6, 2004, at home with the comfort of her loving husband and two daughters. Jennie was born in the town of Exeter, on July 13, 1934, the daughter of the late Louis and Martha Seamon. She grew up in the Richfield Springs area with her 17 other brothers and sisters. She graduated from Richfield Springs Central School with the Class of 1953, where she participated in various sports and was a drum majorette. While in school she was employed at the former Palmer Hotel, the Corner Restaurant and the Richfield Springs Diner as a waitress. While married to Steve, they ran a farm. They also built, owned and operated the S&L Slaughterhouse for more than 37 years before retiring. Genevieve is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Steve; two daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Donald Calhoun of Kansas City, Mo., and Marlene and John Wagner of Middletown. Besides being a loving wife and mother she was the best grandmother ever to her four grandchildren, Donald Steven, Kenneth Christopher, Danielle Darlene and Steven John. All those who knew her loved her dearly and will always remember her warm, wonderful smile. Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. The Rev. Terence Healy will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Spytko will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery later this spring.
