Obituary

Town of Exeter- George W. Palmer 74 of County Route 16 died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, August 13, 2000 in his home. He was born onJuly 17, 1926 in Beacon, NY son of the late George W., Sr. and Elizabeth Farkas Palmer. He was raised and educated in Poughkeepsie and graduated from high school there. He went on to Vocational Training School for Mechanics. An honorablydischarged U.S. Navy veteran he served our country during World War II in the PacificTheater. On October 10, 1964 he married Helen Piester in Poughkeepsie. He hadowned and operated a service station in Poughkeepsie. In 1970 he and his familymoved to the Town of Exeter. For fifteen years Mr. Palmer was sales manager for theWorld Book Encyclopedia Company, retiring in 1988. He was a former member of the RichfieldSprings Lions Club. Surviving him besides his wife of thirty six years Helen arethree sons and their wives; Thomas and Barbara Palmer of Rhode Island, Robert and TracyPalmer of Plantation, FL, Jerry and Lynn Ingle of Oneonta; two daughters; JoAnn and herhusband Dexter Smith of New Berlin, Sandra Kirch of Longwood, FL, eight grandchildren,several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will take place at a later time to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the Schuyler Lake First Responders Volunteer ambulance Corps. Envelopes will be available at the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs
