HERKIMER-George Parker, age 92, of 690 West German Street, and formerly of Delray Beach, Florida passed away on Wednesday May 16, 2007 in Valley Health Services Inc. He had the peace and comfort of his loving family at his side.
He was born on April 8, 1915, in Boston, MA, son of the late Morris and Sadie Pullman Parker. George was raised and educated in Boston. On July 10, 1938 he was united in marriage with the former Frances Cohen in Sharon, MA.
For thirty-five years Mr. Parker was employed as a shipper for the Century Sportswear Company in Boston, retiring in 1979. He and his wife enjoyed their retirement years in Delray Beach, Florida before moving to Herkimer in 2006 to be closer to their family.
To all that knew him they will remember a loving, caring and hard working man who was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-eight years Frances, a daughter, Marsha Mason and her husband Irving of Herkimer, four grandchildren, Linda and her husband Duane Sidney, Richard Mason, Michael and his wife Karen Mason, Daniel and his wife Kathryn Mason, eleven great grandchildren, Lisa and Jimmy Mason, David, Andrea and Michelle Mason, Chad, Matt and Leah Mason, Kelsey, Andrew and Cameron Mason, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Howard Parker and a sister, Betty Frankel.
Funeral service and interment are private and at the convenience of the family. Shiva will be observed at the home of his daughter at 810 Talson Park Drive, Herkimer on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm.
