Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS- George Mills Sinnamon age 100 passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning April 16, 2008 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. He was born on April 18, 1907 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late John and Ida Brown Sinnamon. George enjoyed his life to its fullest.His wisdom, memory and humor stayed with him until his final days. He was admired by all who came in contact with him.He was a man of faith and character, who believed in honesty and hard work. As a young man George worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and then spent the next forty-two years working with the Kresge/K-Mart Corporation. At the age of twenty-three he enlisted in the US Calvary and then the US Army Air Corp after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He proudly served in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in 1945 attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. George was a faithful, loving husband to Pearl Lamb who preceded him in death in 1999. He was the beloved father of two daughters, Linda Watkins and Susan Shields and their husbands Charles Watkins and Joseph Shields.He cherished his grandchildren, Joshua, John, and James Watkins, and Ryan, Kelly, and Connor Shields.George had a special place in his heart for his sister-in-law, Daisy Vorm who always found time to come and visit following Pearls death. Gene Simpson was his dedicated caregiver who kept George comfortable until his last day.Carol and Kristi Simpson, Joanne Sirtoli and Josh John and James Watkins also took loving care of George for which he and his family were eternally grateful. Mr. Sinnamon lived a full happy life and will be missed by all. Well done my good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:21, 23). Funeral service will be on Saturday at 10:00 am in the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Arthur Miner, Interim Pastor will officiate.Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs to receive relatives and friends on Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Food Pantry or the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
