RICHFIELD SPRINGS George W. Stockigt, age 51, Linden Ave, passed away peacefully, with the comfort of his family by his side, on Thursday December 23, 2004 in his home.
George was born on February 17, 1953 in New Berlin, a son of the late Hubert and Pearl Bogart Stockigt a lifelong area resident and he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. On January 29, 1977 he married Denise Lewis in Schuyler Lake a blessed and loving union of 27 years. George worked for the New York Susquehana Western Railroad in Cooperstown, one of his favorite hobbies was dairy farming, and helping out with the Dyn Farms in the Schuyler Lake area.
One of his greatest pleasures in life was his love for his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. George was known for his special touch that made a child smile. He will be always remembered as a kind gentle man who was more than willing to help anyone.
Besides his wife Denise he survived by three sons and their families; Daniel his wife Edria and their son Daniel of Richfield Springs, Lawrence his companion Cassandra his son George and his mother Missi and his daughter Destiny of Ilion, Michael and his wife Veronica of Richfield Springs, a daughter; Juanita Stockigt her companion Greg Mullin and their son Damion of Ilion, four brothers; Ernest Stockigt and his wife Louise, Peter and his wife Roberta all of Frankfort, Jess and his wife Crystal of Gloversville Richard Stockigt of Sherburne, four sisters; Cindy Wilber and her husband Mark of Bainbridge, Rachel Couse of Maryland, Caroline Sullivan and her husband Skip Lydia Daisy Perry of Richfield Springs. Also are surviving several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held on Monday December 27, 2004 at 10:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, with the Reverend John Young officiating.
The family will be present in the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm to receive family and friends. Interment in Schuyler Lake Cemetery will take place this spring.
