RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Geraldine C. Schultz age 87 passed away peacefully on Monday evening January 5, 2009 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion.
She was born on December 1, 1921 at the Curry Homestead near Hartwick, a daughter of the late Willard A. and Meriea Wright Curry. Geraldine was raised near Hartwick and was a graduate of Hartwick High Schoolwith the class of 1938. She continued her education attending a Business School majoring in Accounting. For nearly fifty years she did this kind of work, first at the Richfield Springs Pennysaver and for twenty years at Saint Josephs Catholic Church, Richfield Springs retiring in 1999.
On June 21, 1943 she was united in marriage with John M. Schultz Jr. in Saint Marys RC Church in Cooperstown. A loving and devoted union of forty-two years Mr. Schultz preceded her in death on September 11, 1985. They had lived on their farm in the town of Columbia until 1983, then moving to her present home in Richfield Springs.
Mrs. Schultz had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. She was a member of Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springs and of the Rosary Altar Society.
To all who knew her they will remember a loving, caring and hopeful person who always said I feel happiest when I am able to do something for someone else. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
Surviving are a very dear aunt, Wilma Bloomer of Cooperstown, two sisters, Marguerite and her husband Elwin Shultis of Utah, Shirley Becker of CA, special friends of many years, Irene Skubitz of Richfield Springs and Charles Guske of West Winfield, four sister-in-laws, Mary Hill, Margaret Kovatchitch, Elizabeth Krisch of Cooperstown and Jean Schultz of Berlin, MD, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband John Jr. she was predeceased by her two sons, John M. Schultz III in 1982 and George W. Schultz in 1969.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am in Saint Josephs Church Richfield Springs. Father John Roos will officiate. Interment will take place later this spring in Saint Josephs Cemetery. At Mrs. Schultzs request there are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
