Obituary

MOHAWK-Gilbert H. Morse age 80 passed away on Wednesday night July 13, 2005 in Saint Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. He was born on April 12, 1925 in Herkimer, son of the late Homer and Hazel Griffin Morse. A lifelong area resident he was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On October 1, 1949 he married the former Mary Makohen in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. Mr. Morse worked as a Engineer and Toolmaker for UNIVAC and later for Mohawk Data Sciences, retiring in 1987. He had a strong faith in God and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk. His outside activities included his membership in the Kettle Beaver Club in Stratford. He enjoyed being with his friends and family and was very proud of his ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He will be truly missed by many especially his family. Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-five years Mary, a daughter Janet and her husband Richard Denny of Dalton, PA, two sons and their wives, Gary and Patricia Morse of Ilion, Kenneth and Joanne Morse of New Hartford, one brother Karl and his wife Barbara Morse of Mohawk, a sister-in-law Cynthia Morse of Herkimer, ten grandchildren, Mandy and her husband James Knowles, Brian, Brad, Mary, Segan and Brittany Morse all of Ilion, Richard Denny III of Mohawk, Erin and her husband Joseph Pompo of Liverpool, Andrew and Gregory Morse both of New Hartford, three great grandchildren Keiffer and Alexander Knowles, Ava Pompo along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents a brother Joseph Morse preceded him in death in 1998. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 4:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Deacon William Wheeler of Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday two hours prior to the funeral service (2:00 to 4:00 pm). Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery at a later time to be announced. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. Envelopes will available at the funeral home.
