Obituary

MIDDLEVILLE - Glenn W. Huckabone, age 85, formerly of Herkimer St, passed away on Thursday evening may 4, 2006 in Valley Health Services. Glenn W. Huckabone, age 85, formerly of Herkimer St, passed away on Thursday evening May 4, 2006 in Valley Health Services. One of thirteen children, he was born on May 31, 1920 in the town of Russia son of the late Joseph and Arlie Smith Huckabone where he was raised and educated. On July 24, 1951 he married Marion Garlock in Newport. She died in 1999. For over twenty-five years he worked for the Dairyman League in Middleville and for fifteen years for Remington Arms retiring in 1983. He had a strong belief in God, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls for over fifty years and was also a member of the Oppenheim Senior Citizens. Glen loved the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed taking long rides and marveled at the changing seasons of the countryside. His family has fond memories of their days of picking blackberries and apples. He will always be remembered for his contagious smile, his wit and friendly manner. He will be greatly missed by many, especially his family. Surviving are his son, Dale Huckabone of Middleville, three daughters and their husbands, Donna and Timothy Wilson of Ilion, Wanda Dougherty and Donald Lindsay of Frankfort, Debbie and Frank Cimo of Ilion, seven grandchildren, Bernie Conklin and his fianc Kim Twiggs of Ct, Melinda and David Hewitt of VA, David and Christy Gay of Poland, April Gay and her companion Frank Arrigo of Ilion, Frank Cimo III of Ilion, Daniel Cimo of Herkimer, Michael and Vicki Cimo of Mohawk, eight great-grandchildren, two very special nieces, Millie Parks of Mohawk, and Mildred Tootie" Williams of Ilion, several nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral service will be on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodin Corners Cemetery, the town of Russia. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to E.W. Corey Volunteer FD of Middleville or Valley Health Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of County Manor for the care he received while living there and a special thanks to the staff of One East and One East extension of Valley Health Services especially Tera Batchelder, John Delaney and David Mueller for the kindness extended to Glenn and his family.
