GraceAveryWHITESTOWN -GraceAvery 78, of Woods Highway formerly ofRichfield Springs and Washington Mills, died on Thursday evening, June 1, 2000in Heritage Health Care Center, Utica. She was born on July 2, 1921 in RichfieldSprings, daughter of the late C. Antonio and Elizabeth Famulare Vertucci. Gracewas raised in Richfield Springs and was a graduate of Richfield Springs HighSchool. After high school she continued on with her education in bookkeeping andaccounting skills. On May 9, 1959 she married Everette J. Avery in RichfieldSprings, a loving and devoted union of twentysix years until his passing onJune 5, 1985. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for TheSure Catch Company, Richfield Springs and later for Max Roswig Accounting inUtica and at the time of her retirement she was a self employed accountant. Mrs.Avery had lived in Whitestown since 1985 coming from Washington Mills. She was amember of the Church of the Annunciation, Clarks Mills and at one time theTuesday Night Bowling League, Richfield Springs. Surviving are one son; ThomasJ. Avery and his special friend Patricia Burns both of Holland Patent, twobrothers; Frederick Vertucci of Richfield Springs, James Vertucci of StoneRidge, four sisters; Anna Edick, Rose Edick, Theresa Vertucci all of RichfieldSprings, Margaret Lasher of Weaverville, NC, one granddaughter Lyndsay Avery ofHolland Patent, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husbandEverette she was preceded in death by two brothers; Joseph and Anthony Vertucciand two sisters; Mary Brown and Elizabeth Lyon. Funeral from J. SEATON McGRATH FUNERAL HOME, 40 West James Street, RichfieldSprings on Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will becelebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springs with theReverend Terrance Healy officiating. Entombment will follow in the Holy TrinityCemetery Mausoleum, Utica. The family will present in the funeral home toreceive relatives and friends on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Inthe 1970s, Mrs. Avery and her siblings established a fund, which provides anannual scholarship to a graduating senior at Richfield Springs Central School.This award is presented in memory of their parents. Memorial donations may bemade to the scholarship fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
