FRANKFORT - Grace M. Bunce, age 84 of First Avenue extension, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, June 24, 2003 in Faxton Hospital, Utica. She was born on June 25, 1918 in New York Mills daughter of the late Joseph and Louise DesJardins Chiever. A lifelong area resident, she was raised in New York Mills and was a graduate of New York Mills High School. On August 19, 1939 she married Earl D. Bunce in Saint Pauls rectory in Whitesboro. They shared a loving and devoted union of fifty-six years until his passing on June 24, 1996. In 1965 they made their home in Frankfort coming from Schuyler. Mrs. Bunce had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. She gloried in her role as wife, mother and homemaker. Her quite moments were spent reading good books and doing crossword puzzles. Grace was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She will be truly missed. Surviving are two sons and their wives; Brian Earl and Lucille Bunce, Thomas Allen and Martha Bunce all of Newport, three daughters and their husbands; Barbara Grace and Dennis Kelly, Charlotte Ann and Allen Hyer all of Frankfort, Jane Eleanor and George Bressette of Malta, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, several sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Earl, a brother; Jerry Chiever, and seven sisters; Elizabeth Robellard, Eva Chiever, Malvina DePietro, Gertrude Skierska, Violet Pratt, Pearl Evans and Ruth Surace preceded her in death. Funeral service will take place on Thursday at 10:00 am in FENNER FUNERAL HOME Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Poland where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Company or the Frankfort Ambulance Corp. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
