HERKIMER-Grace L. Putnam, age 89, formerly of 104 North Washington Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning ,May 30, 2010, in the Masonic Care Community, Utica. She was born on February 24, 1921, in Frankfort, daughter of the late Anson W. and Leola Chapman Lindsay. A lifelong area resident she was a graduate of Frankfort High School and furthered her education, graduating from the Brooklyn School of Nursing. Grace was married first to Alonzo W. Reese who passed away and later married Darwin Putnam who also predeceased her. For many years Mrs. Putnam worked as a Loan Officer for the Citizens First National Bank of Frankfort and later worked as a house parent the House of Good Shepherd in Utica and the George JuniorRepublic a private school in Ithaca. She retired in 1973 moving to Florence and Society Hill SC, where she spent many happy years. Mrs. Putnam will always be remembered for her helpful, caring manner. She found great joy in doing for others. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. Surviving are one sister Ruth Bennett of Uticaalong with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands Alonzo and Darwin she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Lindsay and a sister, Mildred Putnam. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm in Mountain View MemorialGardens, town of Little Falls. The Reverend Dr. Andrew D. Peloubet, Pastor of the First Baptist Church Ilion will officiate. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
