SPRINGFIELD/UTICA- Harold Allen "Bud" Barrett, age 67, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015. Buddy was born on September 15, 1947 in Cooperstown, , son of the late Robert and Ida Barrett. He was raised and educated in Springfield, NY, and was a graduate of Springfield Central School, Class of 1965, where he excelled in sportsparticularly in track and basketball. He attended MVCC and had been employed as a heavy equipment operator by Eastern Rock (Hanson) in Jordanville for more than 40 years. A hard worker and very talented, it seemed that there was nothing Bud couldn't fix, repair or construct and was always willing to do anything to help his family. He continued to have a keen interest in sports, enjoyed camping and was an avid NY Giants fan. Buddy was married to Maurene J. Barrett in Richfield Springs in 1966 and they shared many happy memories for more than 36 years until her death in 2002. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Barrett. Surviving are his daughter Donielle and her husband, Robert Bradley, of Whitesboro; son Scott Barrett and his wife, Michele, of Manlius; daughter Christine and her husband, Brad Bellinger, of Richfield Springs; two very special granddaughters whom he adored, Allison Barrett of Syracuse and Hannah Bellinger of Richfield Springs; and his special companion Donna Mosher, of Utica. Also surviving are Bud's two brothers, Jack Barrett and Jerry Barrett; his sister Sandra Bell; a sister-in-law Suzanne Barrett; his stepmother Betty Barrett; several special nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends. He will be truly missed. Mr. Barrett's family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs to receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 3:00 until 5:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 5:30 pm in the funeral home. Interment will take place later this spring in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bud's memory may be made to the Maurene Barrett Memorial Scholarship Fund at Richfield Springs Central School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
