Frankfort - Harold Alvin Richardson "Rich", 52, ofMary Street, died on Tuesday evening, September 5, 2000 in his home after a longillness, with his loving family at his side.
He was born on September 23, 1947 in Herkimer, son ofGertrude S. Combs Richardson and the late Alvin C. Richardson. He was raised inEast Herkimer on the Richardson Farm and was a graduate of Herkimer High School.He then entered the ManPower Development program in Utica for auto mechanics. Hethen went to work for the Earl Phillips Amoco Station in Herkimer. In Novemberof 1968 he entered the US Army, was assigned to the Fourth US Army Division andfought in Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.He was honorably discharged in November of 1972. Upon returning home from theservice he operated the Amoco Station at the corner of State Street and SouthMain Street. On April 15, 1973 he married Fanny Margaret Taylor in Herkimer. For15 years he was a welder and lead man at Mohawk Metal Products in Frankfort,retiring in 1998.
Surviving besides his wife of 27 years Fanny, are a son PaulSchults and his wife Christine of Floyd a daughter Deborah Duncan of Ilion;his mother, Gertrude S. Richardson of East Herkimer; two brothers, Karl and hiswife Judy Richardson of Frankfort, Gary Richardson of Herkimer; fourgrandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He waspreceded in death by his father, Alvin C. Richardson and his brother GordonRichardson.
Funeral service will be on Friday 10:00 am in Fenner FuneralHome Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend James Fosterofficiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mountain ViewMemorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. The family will be present in thefuneral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00& 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Sue CampagnaHospice of Herkimer County. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice forthe tender care and compassion given to Harold and family during his illness.
