VAN HORNESVILLE - Harvey G. Tennant, 68, of Route 80, passesaway on Monday, August 13, 2001 in his home after a long illness. He was born on April 3, 1933, in Van Hornesville, son of the late Georgeand Esther Eckler Tennant. Mr. Tennant was raised and educated in VanHornesville andgraduated from Utica Tech. (Mohawk valley Community College). On June 28, 1952, hemarried Sharlene Bennett in the Herkimer Methodist Church with the Reverend Fred Cotnamofficiating.
He first worked for Pole Sprayers Inc. located in Buffalo. For 36years he worked for Niagara-Mohawk Company in Syracuse retiring in 1994 as Gas Supervisor. He and his wife returned to VanHornesville in 1998 coming from New Woodstock.
An avid outdoorsman he loved to fish and hunt.
Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, Sharlene; four sons, Stevenand his wife Michele Tennant of Syracuse, Daniel and his wife, Karen Tennant ofBainbridge, Brian and his wife Julie Tennant of Cazenovia, Doctor Gary Tennant ofFlossmore, IL; two daughters and their husbands, Shari and Jeffery Pill of Dunbarton, NH,Judy and David Mahony of Oakton, VA; two brothers and their wives, Vaughn and PatriciaTennant and Donald, Eunice Tennant all of Little falls; three sisters, Altana Swank of St.Johnsville, Barbara and her husband John Potts of Amsterdam, Beverly Tennant of Ft. Plain;eighteen grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Danielle, Andrew, Bethany, MeganNathaniel, Angelica, Priscilla, Jeremiah; Kelsey and Paden Tennant; Sarah, Hannah andTaylor Pill; Erica Curry; Ryan, Marisa, Julia and Davis Mahony; several nieces, nephewsand cousins.
Funeral service will be on Friday in Grace Baptist Church, Van BurenStreet, Dolgeville, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in VanHornesville Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday evening from5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, RichfieldSprings.
Memorial donations may be made to the Grace Baptist Church, Dolgevilleor the Sue Campagna Hospice of Herkimer County. Envelopes will be available at thefuneral home.
