Obituary

HERKIMER - Hazel E. Francisco, age 78, of East German Street Ext., passed away on Wednesday evening, September 25, 2002, in University Hospital, Syracuse as a result of complications from an automobile accident in August of this year. She was born on July 27, 1924 in Herkimer daughter of the late Lindley and Olga Schrader Hubbard. A lifelong Herkimer resident she graduated from Herkimer High School and the Utica School of Commerce. OnDecember 31, 1945 she married Gerald E. "Curly" Francisco inthe Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. For twenty-seven years sheworked for the H. M. Quackenbush Company, Herkimer, retiring as Office Managerand bookkeeper in 1986. InHazel's leisure time she was an avid golfer. She loved doing crafts, knittingand was a stamper. A patient person along with being a perfectionist, she madeher own greeting cards. Hazel was happiest when she was surrounded by her manyfriends and family especially her grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting thearrival of her first great-granddaughter, Sadie. Shewas a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Survivingare her husband of fifty-six years Gerald; a son, Larry J. and his wife CynthiaFrancisco of Cudjoe Key, FL; two daughters, Jacalyn M. Francisco and her husbandMarc Lavigne of Merritt Island, FL, Lorraine D. Francisco and John McGinn ofWebster; two brothers and their wives, William and Mary Ann Hubbard of EastHerkimer, George and Jean Hubbard of New York Mills; a sister, Myrtle and herhusband Robert Irons of Herkimer; two grandchildren, Amanda Allen of Oxnard, CA,Patrick Lavigne of Merritt Island, FL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and manyin-laws. Besidesher parents two sisters preceded her in death, Lillian Jones and Edna Miller. Thefamily will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street Herkimer toreceive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeralservice will be on Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church,Herkimer. The Reverend Dale Dickerson will officiate. Interment will take placeat a later time convenient to the family. Memorialdonations may be made to the Upstate Medical University Foundation, 750 AdamsStreet, CAB Room 326, Syracuse, NY 13210. Attention of A.R.D.S. Research.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
