HORNESVILLE - Hazel Moyer age 89 of Primrose Lane passed away peacefully on Monday evening March 5, 2012 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on October 18, 1922 in Stratford, daughter of the late Frank and Mertie Perkins VanBrink.A lifelong area resident she attended schools in Emmonsburg, Sprout Brook, Springfield and West Edmeston. On September 7, 1943 she was united in marriage with Charles M. Moyer in the Starkville United Methodist Church. They shared a loving and devoted union of over sixty years until his passing on July 13, 2004. Mrs. Moyer was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother as well as working the family dairy farm.In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, baking and working in her garden. She liked country music and was a dedicated member of the Ronnie Smith Fan Club. To all who knew Hazel, she was a warm, gentle and caring person who found great joy in doing for others and wanting nothing in return.She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Charles F. and Donna Moyer of Jordanville, Robert J. and Kay Moyer of Van Hornesville, one sister, Marguerite Moore Shorer of Ilion, four grandchildren, Scott and Bradley Moyer, Melissa Moyer Webb and Jennifer Moyer Schuller, seven great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Charles she was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Timothy, Frank, Harry VanBrink and Kenneth Moore, three sisters Grace and Bessie VanBrink and Mae Mosher. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.The Reverend Kenneth Dingman will officiate.Interment will be in Springfield Center Cemetery later this spring at a time to be announced.
