HERKIMER - Hazel M.Neil 85, formerly of 2081/2Doxtater Street, died on Monday night, February 21, 2000, in Valley HealthServices Inc.. She was born on May 13, 1914 in the Town of Fairfield, daughter ofthe late Emerson and Mary Rose Williams Miller. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Ilion Schools. On November 27, 1947 she married Robert P. Neil in the Parsonage of theHerkimer Methodist Church. Theyshared a loving and devoted union of twenty-nine years until his passing onNovember 29, 1976. In 1976 shemoved to Herkimer coming from Cold Brook. Fora short period of time she worked as a clerk in the W.T. Grant Store, Herkimer. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church Herkimer and a life member ofthe Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post # 4915 Ladies Auxiliary. Hazel was a homemaker whose leisure time was spent crocheting and in thefall of every year becoming an avid Buffalo Bills football fan. Surviving her are a niece; Judy and her husband Charles Sommer, asister-in-law Laura Neil all of Herkimer, seven great nieces and great nephewsand several cousins. Besides herhusband Robert she was preceded in deathby a brother Ellsworth E. Miller in 1992. Funeral service will be on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM in Fenner FuneralHome Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend Brian Kellington rectorof Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Intermentwill take place in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls laterthis spring. The family will bepresent in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends Thursday from 4:00to 7:00 PM. Memorial donations maybe made to MOVAC or to Rural Metro Ambulance Service. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff of Valley Health Services Inc.especially Florence Ward for their care and compassion during Hazels stay.
