Richfield Springs - Helen RyanBrady, 92, of Lake St., passed away on Thursday morning, February 22, 2001, inher home. She was born on March 6, 1908, in Danbury, CT, daughter of the lateFrank P. and Elizabeth Walsh Ryan. Helen was raised in Danbury, and graduatedfrom Danbury High School and Danbury Normal School. On October 26, 1935, shemarried Owen P. Brady, Jr., in St. Francis of Assisi Church, New York City, aloving and devoted union of 64 years until his passing on January 11, 1999. For14 years, she was the assistant librarian for the Richfield Springs ElementarySchool Library, retiring in 1977. She had a strong belief in God and lived adevoted Catholic life. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, RichfieldSprings. She also belonged to the Richfield Springs Garden Club. Her favoritepast time was playing bridge and she belonged to three bridge clubs in RichfieldSprings. Surviving her are two sons, Michael E. Brady, of Carlsbad, CA, and O.Patrick and his wife, Hope Brady, of Loudenville; two daughters, Carol and herhusband, John "Pete" Clark, of Brewster, MA, and Kathleen BradySteckloff, of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Brady, of Syracuse;a sister, Katherine Hanford, of Lakeworth, FL; 14 grandchildren; 14great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents andhusband, Owen, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and HaroldRyan. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in J. SeatonMcGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs, on Friday (today) from6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. The Rev. Terrance Healywill officiate. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery will be later this spring.Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
