JORDANVILLE, NY-Helen Monaghan age 99 of Travis Road passed away peacefully on Monday morning January 7, 2013 in Folts Homes, Herkimer.
She was born on March 14, 1913 in Rockville, CT, daughter of the late John and Edna Fuller Frazier. Helen was raised and educated in Talcoltville. She was the widow of Arthur Monaghan.
While living in Connecticut she had worked in the copy room at Aetna Insurance Company and later was a thread inspector at the Talcoltville Mill. She retired in 1972. Mrs. Monaghan resided in Tolland, CT for twenty-seven years until April of 2000, moving to Jordanville to be nearer to her family. While living in Jordanville she attended the Jordanville Monastery Russian Orthodox Church.
In her leisure time her favorite hobby was hooking and weaving. She also found much joy playing the piano for her friends and family. Mrs. Monaghan will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be truly missed.
Surviving her are three grandchildren, Scott Monaghan and his wife Lillian of Sandy Hook, CT, Kathleen Monaghan Simmons and her husband Michael of Danbury, CT, Sarah Brander and her companion Jeremy Tripp of Jordanville, three great grandchildren, Jake Monaghan, Hunter, Tyler and Samantha Simmons. A niece, Gennell Monaghan and a nephew, Michael Monaghan. Besides her parents and husband Arthur she was preceded in death by a son John Monaghan and daughter Sue M. Brander.
Funeral service and committal in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rockville, CT will be private and at the convenience of the family.
