IIILION - Herbert E. Welden II age 71, passed away on Saturday evening August 8, 2009 at Denicolas Easy Living, North Fourth Avenuewhere he has resided for the past twelve years. At the time of his passing he had the comfort of his daughter Rebecca and his caregivers Carmen and Sue Denicola at his side. He was born on April 18, 1938 in Ilion, son of the late Randall B. and Anne Budka Welden. Herbert was raised and educated in Richfield Springs. After graduating high school he entered the US Army where he served from 1956 until 1958 and was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Sergeant. Herb had worked for the Flying W Inc. in Medford, NJin the Flight Operating and Maintenance Department. In 1997 and returned to this area. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs, the Richfield Springs Lions Club and the Richfield Springs Fire Volunteer Department. Mr. Welden is survived by Martha Welden, a daughter, Rebecca Luke and her companion Rick Huxtable of West Winfield, one son Herbert E. Welden III and his wife Kathy of Chesapeake, VA, three grandchildren, Cody, Austin and Ethan Welden all of Chesapeake, VA, At Herbs request there are no calling hours. A graveside memorial service will take place on Friday at 2:00 pm in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs. The family will receive relatives and friends immediately after the graveside service at the home of Rebecca and Rick at 597 Millers Mills Road; West Winfield.
