RICHFIELD SPRINGS Herman Vincent Anderson, age 60, of US Highway #20, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, December 15, 2012, in BassettMedical Center, Cooperstown. He had his loving family at his side.
He was born on May 18, 1952, in Herkimer, son of Joy Foster Anderson and the late Charles Vincent Anderson.Herman was raised in Richfield Springs and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.On December 4, 1972, he entered the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on December 18, 1978, attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class.For ten years he worked as a machinist for Hale Book Case Manufacturing Company. He retired in 1986.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Ilion United Methodist Church where he had served as an usher. He was also a member of the Herkimer County Fair Grounds Board of Directors.
To all who knew him, they will remember a kind, caring man who enjoyed doing for others. He received great joy in driving his Amish neighbors on errands while receiving nothing in return.He was a friend to many and will be sorely missed.
Surviving besides his mother Joy Anderson of Richfield Springs, are three daughters, Brenda Johnson and her husband Jack of Newport, Lawanda Kotwitz of Houston TX, Jennifer Anderson of Syracuse, two sons, Cortney Anderson of Richfield Springs, Chris Palmer and his wife Holly of Middleburgh, five cherished grandchildren, Cassandra Johnson and Justine Johnson both of Newport, Dustin Kotwitz and Allison Kotwitz both of Houston, TX, Emily Garbutt of Syracuse, six brothers, four sisters, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.The Reverend Robert Wollaber, pastor of Morning Star Ministries will officiate. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
