Obituary

MOHAWK - Herman J. Sonny Baylor, Jr., age 79, of State Route #28, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 29, 2006 in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. He was born on January 6, 1927, in Little Falls, a son of the late Herman James and Sophie Unser Baylor. He was raised and educated in Little Falls and worked the farm with his father. On June 19, 1948 he married the former Mabel Irene Smith. A loving and devoted union of twenty years until her passing on October 10, 1968. For many years he worked as a master carpenter-cabinet maker for the Ilion Lumber Company. In 1965 he went to work for Remington Arms as a machinist retiring as a foreman on April 30, 1985 due to declining health problems resulting from childhood polio. He had a wide variety of interests; talking on his CB to friends near or as far as the Antarctic or more recently mastering the computer to find new ways of keeping in touch and making new friends. His love of the outdoors and nature took him on many road adventures in his truck. A truly Christian man, Herman enjoyed people and lived his life to the fullest.
