Obituary

Herman G. CurrySCHUYLER LAKE- Herman G. Curry, 74, of County Highway 22, died on Friday, January 7, 2000, inhis home with his loving family at his side. He was born on December 26, 1925, in Cooperstown, a son ofthe late George and Gladys Light Curry. A lifelong resident of Schuyler Lake, hewas a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. An honorably discharged US AirForce veteran, he served our country during World War II. He had served in Japanwith the 14th Emergency Rescue Boat Squadron. On September 18, 1948 he marriedShirley Brady in Waterville. He first had worked for UNIVAC and for twenty yearswas a Electronics Technician with Mohawk Data Sciences, retiring in 1985. He wasa former member of the Schuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the RichfieldSprings VFW Post. For several years he served as president of the Schuyler LakeCemetery Board. Herman loved the outdoors and used much of his leisure time hunting andfishing. Surviving besides his wife of 51 years, Shirley, are two sonsand their wives, Gregory and Maryann Curry of Milford, William and Diane Curryof Mt. Vision; a daughter, Diane and her husband Mark Thompson of Cold Brook;one sister, Ida Davis of Schuyler Lake; four grandchildren, Amy and ColleenThompson, Justin and Melissa Curry; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in J.Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, withthe Reverend John Young officiating. Interment will be in Schuyler Lake Cemetery later thisspring. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday morning one hourprior the funeral service (10- 11 a.m.) Memorial donation may be made to the Schuyler Lake First Responders or theCatskill Area Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
