HERKIMER - Hertha Wiers, 76, of Pine Avenue, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Valley Heath Services. She was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Orange, N.J., the daughter of the late Arthur Max and Babette (Hacker) Fiebiger. As a young girl her family moved to Canajoharie, where she graduated from high school. On Dec. 6, 1952, she married Robert Thomas Wiers in Canajoharie. They moved to Herkimer in 1958, and have resided here since then. For over 20 years Hertha had worked for Herkimer County. She had held many positions, starting in the probation department under sheriff Dick Folts. She retired as deputy clerk in 1978. She was a member of Zonta International, the Lady Elks and a volunteer for the Herkimer County Humane Society. She was an avid bowler; however her true passion was her home and family. She treasured time spent with friends and family, especially her granddaughter, who was her sunshine. She will live in their hearts forever. Hertha will always be remembered for her quick wit and spunk. Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Robert; her devoted daughter, Teresa Terry and her husband Salvatore Beef Paratore; granddaughter, Trisha Lynne Paratore, all of Herkimer; her pet dog, Waldie and cat, Patches, several nieces, nephews and cousins from England, Germany and Brazil. She is also survived by five sisters-in-law, Irene and Barbara Wiers, both of Herkimer, Toby Wiers of Mohawk, Jane Wiers of Whitesboro and Ann Wiers of California. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Fred Arthur, on Sept. 30, 1970, and a brother, James Arthur Fiebiger, on March 24, 1962. There are no calling hours. Funeral service and interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society, P.O.
