RICHFIELD SPRINGS Hilda Wood, 90, formerly of 14 Park St., diedThursday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2000, in The Meadows, town of Middlefield.Born March 11, 1910, in Miller Mills, she was the daughter of the late Everettand Helen Getman Bailey. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in theMiller Mills School.On June 9, 1928, she married Lewis E. Wood in the home of her parents inCedarville. They enjoyed a loving and devoted union of 41 years until hispassing April 11, 1969.Besides raising a family and caring for her husband, for 20 years she worked forthe A&P Co. in Richfield Springs, retiring in 1972.She was a member of the Springfield Center Baptist Church.Surviving her are a son, Gordon, and his wife, Veronica Wood, of Old Forge; onedaughter, Doris, and her husband, Arthur "Stub" Miller, of RichfieldSprings; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces andnephews. Besides her husband, Lewis, she was preceded in death by two brothers,Russell Bailey in 1972 and Andrew Bailey in 1984; and two grandchildren, GordonWood Jr. and Robert "Hoss" Miller.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in J. Seaton McGrath FuneralHome, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs, with the Rev. Rex Fullman, pastor ofthe Springfield Center Baptist Church, officiating. Burial, in LakeviewCemetery, will by private and at the convenience of the family. There are nocalling hours.The family requests as an alternative to flowers, donations to the SpringfieldCenter Baptist Church be considered.
