RICHFIELDSPRINGS - Howard J. Francisco Pat age 80 of County Route # 22 passedaway on Saturday February 23, 2002 in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born on October 19, 1921 in the town of Fairfield, son of the late HowardF. and Myrtle Denslow Francisco. Howard was educated in both Herkimer andWest Canada Valley Schools.
An honorably discharged US Army veteran he served in World War II in the Pacific Theater and the Allied Occupation of Japan.
On October 6, 1948 he married Eloise A. Primeau in the Middleville MethodistChurch.
At one time he had worked for the tanneries in both Middleville and West Winfield. For twenty years he worked for the Otsego County Highway Department, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer and was a member of West Canada VFW Post # 7270.
Howard will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. He was proud of the fact that he was a cancer survivor. He will greatly be missed by many, especially his family.
Surviving him are his wife of fifty-three years Eloise, a daughter; Cathy andher husband Lee Mayne of Burlington Flats, one brother; Gerald and his wifeHazel Francisco of Herkimer, three sisters; Marjorie Brooks of Newport, Etheland her husband Bruce Clark of Herkimer, Shirley Simons of Middleville, twograndchildren; Sherry and Michael Mayne of Burlington Flats, two sister-in-laws;Elsa Francisco and Dorothy Francisco both of Middleville, several nieces,nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; E. Franklin Francisco, Kenneth Francisco and a sister; Mary Hunt.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Jay Henderson pastor of the Burlington Flats Baptist Church will officiate. Interment in Newport Cemetery, Newport, NY will be later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Cedarville Ambulance Corp, Richfield Springs Emergency Squad or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
