RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Ida Mae Berrie, age 90, of High Street passed away peacefully on Sunday morning May 5, 2013 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
She was born on December 23, 1922 in Ilion, daughter of the late Eugene and Mabel Moyer Snyder. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. During World War II Ida did her part by going to California where she worked in a bomber assembly plant.
On April 20, 1946 she was united in marriage with Donald W. Berrie in the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs. They made their home and raised their family in Richfield Springs.In 1974 Mrs. Berrie went to work as a packer for the Duofold Company in Mohawk. She retired in 1982.
Ida had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs.In her leisure time she enjoyed bowling, reading and working in her vegetable garden. With her husband Don, she enjoyed a memorable trip toEurope and many other bus trips up and down the east coast.
To all who knew her she was a loving, caring and hopeful person who was happiestwhen surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.She will be truly missed.
Surviving are her devoted husband of sixty-eight years Donald, one son, Michael Berrie and his wife Marjorie of Mohawk, a daughter, Pat Warner and her husband John of Ilion, one sister Edith Suhocki of Herkimer, eight grandchildren, Kaylan Comes, Lacey Warner, Sean Berrie, Joshua Berrie, Michelle Platt, Krista Goldsmith, William Goldsmith, and LinDee Douglas, seven great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Leah Comes, Gavin, Garrett Goldsmith, Trenton, Amber and Lexie Douglas, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Alfred and Emery Snyder, five sisters, Hazel Snyder, Ruth Owens, Pearl Waldruff, Dorothy Evans and Marge Griffith.
At Mrs. Berries request, funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
